About Me
Education
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, trainer of mental health clinicians, Coach, Certified Wellness Counselor, meditation instructor, and an educator. I received my M.A. in Clinical Counseling and B.A. in Psychology from The Ohio State University.
Counseling & Coaching
For eight years, I have provided integrative counseling and coaching. I have helped people cultivate a life that aligns with their values by guiding them through anxiety, depression, ADHD, panic attacks, OCD, phobias, addictions, autism, schizophrenia, and many other misunderstood struggles.
Managing
I have four years of experience building and managing a university Wellness Coaching Program, which included designing the training curriculum, training 25 mental health coaches each year, supervising 30 employees, assessing the performance of my employees and the coaching program, overseeing university partnerships, and overseeing the university wellness coaching brand.
Training & Consulting
I have trained over 300 mental health clinicians to treat the mind, body, and spirit of their clients. I love guiding other clinicians, as the ripple effects are huge. A solid clinician can do wonders for countless people, and a mediocre clinician can do great damage. I am here to train clinicians to better take care of their clients and themselves.
I have trained dozens of university departments to communicate more effectively and compassionately with colleagues, loved ones, and students who are struggling, through the skills of Motivational Interviewing.
I have consulted for universities across the United States that need guidance with starting their own Wellness Coaching Program for students.
Teaching
I have taught many university students through courses and workshops, including the following topics:
Mindfulness During the Madness
Finding Balance In a Digital World
Establishing & Maintaining Boundaries
Self-Care for Helpers
Identifying & Using Your Strengths
Conscious Communication
Resilience
Digital Mental Healthcare
Over my years as a clinician, I have often provided virtual therapy and workshops. I also have two years of experience overseeing the clinical content, voice, and direction for a mental health app, managing hundreds of services, including courses, meditations, worksheets, interventions, assessments, coping skills, videos, blog articles, and chat support.
Writing
I have four years of experiencing copywriting and managing the brand of a university wellness program and two years of experience copywriting and managing the brand of a startup mental health app.
I have published five poetry books and I am now working on my debut novel. I’m a self-taught writer, fueled by a never-ending thirst for beauty. I’ll never perfectly capture nature or God or love in a poem, but I’ll spend a lifetime trying.
Gathering
I enjoy bringing people together. I have facilitated many group gatherings that involve writing, spoken word, music, hiking, and intentional connection. I founded Creatives Gone Hiking (@creativesgonehiking) and continue to host meetups.
Speaking
I host the Student of the Moment Podcast and have lectured on the following topics: self-care for helpers, holistic wellness, remembering your purpose, nature therapy, mindfulness, and conscious communication.
Just Me
I absolutely love being outdoors, experiencing the different flavors of tradition while traveling, visiting old monasteries and churches, playing the drums, and being barefoot whenever possible. I hope to honor God in all that I do. I currently live in Columbus, Ohio.
